Collaborations (Medical)
The Collaborations tool provides visualization of intra-institutional and inter-institutional faculty collaboration on all available work types. The default is intra-institutional collaboration. Note: the application of custom peer filters will also be reflected in the Collaborations tool. The legend on the left describes the sizes, colors, and line styles that appear in the graphic.
The view can be changed between Scholar and Unit and in the upper left drop-down menu. In all views, clicking on a node will bring up collaborative information for that node. The graphic can be dragged through click-and-drag. Further, it can be zoomed using the mouse scroll wheel.
Selecting the Inter-institutional button on the left side of the chart will produce a view of the institutional faculty within the given discipline's collaboration with all other institutions. Placing your cursor on an institution name will open a dialog box showing the name of the institution, the disciplines of collaboration at that institution, the number of collaborators and the number of co-authored articles produced.
Clicking on Scholar changes the view to individual faculty names and gives the user the ability to view collaborations within the disciplinary unit at the user's institution, across disciplinary units at the user's institution, and across institutions. Collaborations within the discipline is the default. Clicking on the check box next to each faculty name allows the user to include/exclude specific faculty from the network.
Clicking on the Across Units button shows faculty collaborations across disciplines within the institution. Clicking on an individual’s name calls up a dialog box which contains the faculty's name and a table containing the names of collaborators and the number of articles, books, conference proceedings, and grants on which the pair has collaborated. The volume of collaboration and distinct collaborations are indicated through the legend on the left of the chart.
